For eleven years St. Andrew Legal Clinic has hosted a family-friendly 5K fundraiser in NE Portland. This year the Race for Justice will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011, beginning and ending at the Madeleine Parish. Kids’ Fun Run starts at 9:15 am, and the 5K starts at 10:15 am. A pizza party will be held after the Race and prizes will be awarded for fastest attorney and non-attorney runners, largest team and best pledge-raisers. In 11 years, the Race has raised more than $1,000,000 to help the clinic provide low-cost legal services for families in need.
This year’s Race is expected to attract more than 700 participants. Hundreds of Portland area lawyers, judges, administrators, volunteers, fans, and kids of all ages will come together to compete for bragging rights and help raise money to keep the Clinic operating. Prizes will include wine and cheese parties, special weekend getaway packages; and one winning team will walk away with the coveted Bronze Sneaker.
Entry fees and sponsorship of the Race help to raise critically needed funds to support the low-cost services offered by the Clinic. To register for the race, go to: www.salcgroup.org and click on Race for Justice.
St. Andrew Legal Clinic is a community-based non-profit agency that provides sliding scale family law services to low income families. For 32 years, SALC has helped provide security for children, support to women in crisis, and access to justice for the working poor. The Community Development Law Center, a program of SALC, provides low cost legal services to non-profits statewide. Together, both programs help Oregon families.
