Annual Fox Chase Neighborhood Block Party Monday September 9th

Posted on August 21, 2013 by Web Manager Posted in Archive

Foxchase Business AssociationTo our friends at the Concordia Neighborhood Association,

It is time again for our annual Fox Chase Neighborhood Block Party. On Monday September 9th, Yakuza Lounge and the other businesses of the Fox Chase Neighborhood will close down two blocks of 30th Ave between Killingsworth and Emerson and between Killingsworth and Jarrett. The event will take place between the hours of 5pm to 10pm and will feature free food and product samples as well as musical entertainment. We will also be collecting food donation for the Oregon Food Bank. In order to setup and breakdown the event we are planning to close the blocks down from 1pm to 11pm that day.

This is an opportunity for the residents of the Fox Chase and Concordia neighborhoods to sample and learn more about the goods and services offered by the members of the neighborhood business community. It is also a great chance to mingle with your friends and neighbors while helping to gather supplies for the Food Bank.

Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions you might have regarding this event.

Sincerely,

Leb Borgerson

Homestay Homes needed for Korean University Students

Posted on June 20, 2013 by Web Manager Posted in Archive

During the month of July fifteen students from Baewha Women’s University in Seoul Korea will be learning about American culture and the English Language at Concordia University.  We are seeking homestay families to house the students from July 2nd to July 30th. Students can be housed alone or in twos.   Concordia will keep them busy most of the day during the week.  There are also a couple of weekend day excursions. There are no overnight excursions planned. Otherwise, the students will have evenings and weekends to be with their host families and do whatever the family does – church, hikes, shopping, etc.  Concordia can provide a bus pass for students to travel to campus or if public transportation does not work well, we can have a van pick up.

Also since it is summer, if a host family needs to gone for less than one week of this homestay it is possible we could find a “temporary” home stay for one week if needed.  Concordia will provide an honorarium of $500 for each student housed in their home.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to share your home and life with a Korean student.  If you are interested and/or would like more information contact Linda Rountree LRountree@cu-portland.edu 503-493-6248.
