Concordia Neighborhood Association Treasurer Position Description
The Treasurer serves a critical role at CNA by providing financial leadership, oversight, and accounting. It is an opportunity to not only help manage an active nonprofit organization, but also to serve your community in one of Portland’s largest and most dynamic neighborhoods. The Treasurer is a board position. As such, applicants must reside or own/operate a business in the Concordia neighborhood.
The Treasurer will attend regular Finance Committee meetings and CNA Board meetings as well as a member of the Executive Committee. The Treasurer works with other board and committee members to prepare and monitor the budget as well as ensuring all financial policies are being followed and that accurate financial records are kept.
The Treasurer is required to follow all state and federal tax regulations, including the filing of any applicable 990’s, W-9’s, CT-12 and 1099’s and related communications. The Treasurer shall work with CNA’s accountant to help prepare for tax filings.
The Treasurer will check the PO Box weekly and share any relevant correspondence with other CNA leadership. The Treasurer is responsible for depositing all money, drafts and checks received by CNA as well as disbursing funds and issue checks as authorized by CNA.
The Treasurer will aid the CNA bookkeeper in preparing monthly financial reports to the board and general membership.
An understanding of financial accounting for non-profit organizations is preferable.
The total time requirement, including any meeting attendance, is estimated to be approximately 4 to 6 hours per month.
