Commissioner Saltzman to Speak at March General Meeting

Portland Housing Commissioner Dan Saltzman will speak at the March 14 general meeting of the Concordia Neighborhood Association.  His presentation will be at 7:30.  The meeting will be in the Community Room of Mcmenamens Kennedy School.

Commissioner Saltzman is currently serving his fifth term as a Portland City Commissioner and has been the Commissioner in Charge of ten city bureaus in his 17-plus years in office. He oversees the Bureau of Development Services, the Portland Housing Bureau, Portland Fire & Rescue, the Gateway Center for Domestic Violence Services and the Portland Children’s Levy. The Commissioner also acts as liaison for the city to Home Forward, the League of Oregon Cities, Travel Portland and the Visitors Development Fund.

Commissioner Saltzman was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Beaverton High School, received a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, and an M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He spent many years in the private sector as the principal in an environmental engineering firm. He also served as a staff assistant to Congressman (now Senator) Ron Wyden.

Commissioner Saltzman served as Multnomah County Commissioner from 1993-1998 and has also served on the Board of Directors for Portland Community College. Commissioner Saltzman’s focus continues to be the well-being of our children and families as well as protecting Portland’s natural and economic environment to achieve a more sustainable future.
